The Filmstars Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan have an entertainment package for us on festive season of Holi. Their movie Badrinath Ki Dulhaniya is slated to release across the theaters on 10th Feb 2017. Dharma Productions in association with Singapore Tourism Board and Silk Air held a Press Conference and Media interaction promoting the movie, Singapore Tourism and Silk Air symbiotically.
Varun and Alia made the atmosphere warm and friendly with their usual ‘Noke-Jhok’. Varun and Alia happily shared their experiences related to Singapore and the upcoming movie. Varun had first visited Singapore when he was 15 or 16 and spent the maximum time at Universal Studios there. He recommends all to visit there once and enjoy the rides. Sexy Varun Dhawan was as usual looking dashing in a formal suit perfect for a diplomate cum promotional function. He was styled by expert Akshay Tyagi for this happening event.
Alia and Varun and the director Shashank Khaitan all appreciated the hospitality, friendliness, food, culture, acceptance and beauty of Singapore by sharing various incidents. They happen to share an anecdote where the Singapore Tourism Board helped the filmmakers out of their way to work on the paper-works, proceedings and formalities for them to shoot their movie when they approached.
Singapore is an important part of the movie in the second part and Silk Air is an infilm banding and associated partner of the movie. There was a beautiful video where Singapore nationality people were lip-syncing and dancing on an Indian Song of this movie titled Tumma Tumma.
When Alia and Varun were asked by the host to shake their leg, they invited media friends to volunteer to join them for a dance. I immediately raised my hand and Alia instantly invited me. Though I am not a good dancer, how could I have left this opportunity to dance with such a cute Diva. I wished star Varun Dhawan best wishes for his movie and he graciously hugged me. Later Alia allowed me to have a selfie with her as she promised.
Explaining his rationale for including Singapore in the movie, Director Shashank Khaitan highlighted, “Singapore offers an interesting mix of a unique multicultural society interwoven into a dynamic city that pulsates with modern vibrancy – something that works well with the characters of Badri and Vaidehi as they embark on a journey of self-discovery. It’s not just a destination but Singapore is intricately woven into the essence of the plot”.
Talking about Singapore’s association with the movie, G.B Srithar, Regional Director for South Asia, Middle East & Africa, Singapore Tourism Board (STB) said, “We are happy to be associated with Badrinath Ki Dulhania, a movie that will appeal to all segments of Indian society with its over-arching theme of love and the joy of life. Over the past few decades, Bollywood movies have helped build an emotive connect among the Indian audiences with Singapore. We believe through Badri and Vaidehi, they will re-discover Singapore’s variety of experiences and evolving cityscape. Keeping in line with the movie’s theme, we are pleased to welcome Indian travelers to begin their endless love affair with Singapore, by visiting and re-visiting Singapore for memorable holidays.”

India is a key market for us and we continue to view it as one with great importance. We strongly believe that the association will help us reach out to more people as we embark on efforts to spread our wings across India.”
Earlier, Bollywood movies like Singapore( starring Shammi Kapoor, 1960), Krish 3(2013), Dear Zindagi(2016), have been shot in Singapore.
