It was a day full of excitement, preparations, getting bedecked and chaos which ended up with sheer amazement. It was bliss while we explored autumn winter collections at the Amazon India Fashion Week 2016. 19th March, Saturday, day 4 of Amazon India Fashion Week 2016 was the day when our team was about to reach us at the venue, Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Lodhi Road and it started raining cats and dogs near Connaught Place. As we were already late for the show, the rains and wet road almost killed the fun and we got more delayed.
The Style Symphony was invited to attend the day 4 of Amazon India Fashion Week 2016, a show from designer duo Ashima-Leena from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. But unfortunately we got delayed by 20 minutes. Registrations at the reception, getting entrance band, calling Gayatri, the event manager…. Huf… huf… ‘twas all chaos and mess but ended up with sheer bliss. The Ashima-Leena show had just begun about 5 minutes back and the ramp was all set on fire.
Ashima-Leena, the International designer label, and the noted designer duo were showcasing their prêt-a-porter autumn winter collection 2016. It was the first ever experience for The Style Symphony to watch an International fashion show live, and Amazon India Fashion Week 2016 was the right thing to begin with.
Ashima-Leena’s prêt collection was inspired by rich cultural heritage of Persia, amalgamated with the ethnicity of east. This collection was designed perfectly, keeping in mind the theme of Amazon India Fashion Week 2016, i.e. “India Modern”. Ashima-Leena has imbibed the beautiful and picturesque motifs of Persian Carpets and portrayed them on flowing silhouettes, made up of rich fabrics like crepes and silk jacquards. Jewel tones with earthy notes ruled the collection.
Wine, navy, olive green and mustard hues were muted down for a subtle effect, and further embellished with cascading screen prints, intricate embroideries, bold appliqués and provocative tassels to enhance the effect of royalty. All the silhouettes were fluid, playful, grand yet wearable and functional. We were seeing a designer collection, for the first time, which could be worn by a woman of any age, without hesitation— A wearable collection with an assurance and confidence that she is looking royal and ravishing, but not looking like a ramp-ready fashionista.
The effortless grandeur of Persian culture could be easily seen in the “India modern” edition of Ashima-Leena for Amazon India Fashion Week 2016. And the best part was that the fantasy overpowered our minds so much that we even forgot that the show was over and it was the time to retreat towards home. And the worst part— clicking pictures of the show ended up in a chaos again. The rush, the mess, the noise and moreover, the fast moving models and neon lights hampered the cell phone clicks into blurred and bizarre ones. But the special hampers for the bloggers brought another reason to smile on our faces. Indeed day 4 of Amazon India Fashion Week 2016 was a hit but we still regret for those 20 minutes we missed.
