[dropcap]D[/dropcap]iwali is all about celebrating with family and friends and more than a festival of lights and prosperity, it’s a festival of love and togetherness. But, sometimes we overlook the hidden compassion in our hearts and celebrations get dimmed.
I still remember when I was in college I had a terrible argument with my dad. Therefore, I firmly decided to stay in my hostel itself during the Diwali vacations instead of going home and celebrating with my family. Only two of my batch-mates (non-Hindus) accompanied me in my hostel during the festival.
Our hostel warden bought few firecrackers for us. I had refused to go with my father when he had come to take me along; still I was sent everything by him that I should have received while celebrating the festival at home. From snacks to munch on to a brand new Diwali outfit to get bedecked in, a big goody bag arrived from home just to ensure that I don’t feel alone or deprived of anything.
Despite having all the goodness of the festivity around me, I was so lost and gloomy just because my near and dear ones were missing. I could neither relish those drool-worthy delicacies prepared by mom nor could I caress my scared pet who’d hug me at the very noise of crackers. And what I badly missed was my younger sister with whom I burnt firecrackers and shared my sweets.
This incidence strongly aroused a sense of realization in my heart where I now believe how important relations are beyond those materialistic pleasures. In order to dive into the essence of festivity, it is extremely vital to have the priceless company of your loved ones to carve memories out of little happiness that are worth cherishing for a lifetime.

Wish you and family a very happy Diwali. Yes, any celebration without near and dean ones is very dull and boring. Sharing and caring adds memories and the occasion a joyous one.

Thanks for stopping by Shifa 🙂 Welcome to TSS!
Wishing you all a happy Diwali Maitreni 🙂 Am concerned about Bambo during the crackers, i hope she will find comfort by staying with you. Coming to the post here, it is the reality thing that any festival if accompanied not with loved ones noises, it is not a festival for us. However, festivals we celebrate with the theme of togetherness and victory of good over bad. I can understand how you felt when you were away from your family in hostel. But, it is also necessary as it shown you the importance of family and a good heart of your Dad whom you argued with. Now, it’s gonna happen never and ever. Once again wishing you & your family a wonderful Diwali.
Hey Prasanna Hope you too had a great Diwali. 🙂 Thanks for your heartfelt wishes and concern for Bambi. Since you’re a pet owner yourself, you very well know how afraid dogs are of this festival especially when they hear unbearable noise throughout the day. Yes my family & I were compassionate enough to calm her during her tough time thankfully though it was a bit difficult. And yes you said it right, sometimes staying away from our loved ones teaches us lifetime lessons to never repeat our mistakes in future. Thanks for stopping by! 🙂
Happy Diwali to Team TSS. 🙂
Thank you Yogesh. Hope you too had a great one! 🙂
