Style Story Of A Girl’s-Next-Door Crowning Glory!

This story was a winning entry in the Grazia Magazine for the Memorable Style Moment Contest. 😀
Hey friends,
Each one of us has some or the other special moment in our life that can surpass the stones we stumble upon! I hope you’d agree on this front. No wonder, I picked one such fab moment from the turnover of the pages of my life that is worth a share! 🙂

Fantasy does turn into reality sometimes, just the way a planned wardrobe malfunction turned out to be my ‘Cinderella story’ in disguise ! Jolly was the day when I was shortlisted among the finalists to walk the ramp to compete for the Ms.Fresher’s tittle. Ready to perform my best, I plunged into the event with the choices of outfits and footwear for all the 3 rounds. Performing fabulously in the first talent round, I moved on hopefully towards the green room, all set for the last two rounds. Next was the ‘ethnic wear round’ followed by the finale being the ‘formal western wear round’. I was carrying two exemplary ensembles that included an exquisite silk anarkali-kurta set and an enticing LBD along with a sexy pair of stilettos to compliment both. But to my utter shock, while getting ready I discovered that one of my heels was broken intentionally. Ohh Fishhh ! :-O I was in a mess and totally stuck into What-to-do-now-and-what-not dilemma. I quickly called home and asked mom to send another pair asap. But unfortunately, running short of time for the on-going round, without giving a damn, I broke the other heel as well and walked the ramp in my traditional attire and those stilettos-turned-flats with utter confidence. And voila ! I made it to the 3 finalists ! ^_^

With a sigh of relief, I returned to the green room and the cherry on the cake ? By the time, another pair of pretty pumps arrived at my rescue from home for the finale. While heading towards getting bedecked for the last round, my heart jumped into my throat (literally 🙁 ) when I realized that my *rivals-turned-devils* had already managed to play with my dress and their scissors. A big cut at the back and I was almost finished ! Phew ! :-O I cried like anything as all my efforts went in vain.  :'( And, guess what? Suddenly a call from my mom to wish me good luck turned into my survivor, as she suggested her tried and tested idea to mend the dress from the reverse side with a cellotape. While searching for the cellotape, found some multi-colored glitter tapes with the stage decoration team. And it was then, that the idea blinked into my mind and it was a blingy affair indeed! 😉  Along with mending the dress, I stuck the glitter tapes all over the back of the dress in zig-zag pattern following the cuts. I walked the ramp with sheer flamboyance….. walked….. walked…. turned and my back stroke a panache. My basic LBD was transformed into a vivid-hued savoir-faire and it won me those laurels which were my ultimate desire. 😀

Yes ! I was that crowned princess midst all envy’s frowns ~ the “Ms. Fresher Of The Year” and that is indeed my most cherished and memorable style moment till date ! Cheers! 🙂

Liked it? Now you needn’t curse me for not having even captured my most special moment! 😉
So, yeah! I’ve posed with the trophy in my outfits of both the ethnic & western wear round.

Now I’m sure you fashionistas would love to indulge in the ramp walk too? 😉
Well, here’s the glimpse one of my friends shot during the ethnic round! Cheers 🙂
