Tête-à-Tête with Karan Johar, the king of Love Triangles & Tears

Tête-à-Tête with Karan Johar, the king of Love Triangles & Tears

It was again an NDTV shoot for Spotlight show on 18th February 2017, Saturday afternoon at Out of the Blues, Le Sutra, Pali Hill, Bandra, Mumbai and this time the guest was Mr. Karan Johar. I talked to the beautiful host Aneesha Baig about the previous episode of Saif Ali Khan and mentioned her about the blog. She was glad. This time it was more special for me because I was with my friends Aditya Kittur, Amit Gupta and Vinesh Prabhu.

Karan Johar KJo the style symphony devesh purohitI didn’t leave the opportunity to ask Karan about his experience of making the recently completing 7 years My Name Is Khan movie. He said to me ‘Hi’ and nostalgically narrated an incident in a foreign land where some ladies thanked him for making the movie as it has impacted and changed their lives in some ways. My friend Amit who is a huge fan of Kal Ho Naa Ho movie interrogate Karan with many questions related to it even after the shoot.

When I was in my final semester of graduation, I had a notion out of my personal experiences that, “Life is a Karan Johar movie; without background music.” It was majorly inspired by the movie Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. I had a fantasy of meeting him some day and telling him this thoughtful quote. And when you really want something, all the universe conspires to help you achieve it.

Karan Johar KJo the style symphony devesh purohitAfter the shoot, the beautiful host Aneesha helped me interact with Karan for a minute and I told him, “Sir, I believe ‘Life is a Karan Johar movie; without background music’.” He was looking straight into my eyes and replied cheerfully, “Oh Wow. I wish it was so.” I gifted him something personal which he graciously took. In his interview he mentioned about the importance of emotions and feelings and that’s where my thought /quote comes from. Chase your dreams, dreams do come true.

Karan Johar KJo the style symphony devesh purohit my name is khan DVDMy friends Vinesh and  Aditya got autographs of him on My Name Is Khan movie DVD.  Amit also lived his dream moments. Basically, it was an amazing experience. One thing I got to learn was there are many emotions and feelings suppressed in us that artists try to come up with in their work.

And he said, usually the first piece of work is beautiful and best because they innocently try to project all their feelings and experiences.

What a lovely experience meeting KJo. Thanks for sharing.
I am currently reading Karan Johar’s autobiography and it is so candid and heartwarming. Would love to meet him someday 🙂
