Chaumasa or Riturang is considered one of the most beautiful and popular streams of classic Hindi Poetry. The poet not only limns the beauty of four seasons in rhyme and rhythm but also amalgamates human emotions in his poems about four leading Indian seasons, ie. Winter, Summer, Spring and Monsoon.
I have tried writing a Chaumasa/Riturang series for my readers in which I have incorporated ‘Navrasas‘ too. In this series, you can even feel the essence of nine human emotions, love and separation, humor, kindness, anger, courage, fear, disgust, wonder and tranquility !
I have posted the Monsoon poem initially (click here to read it) and have already written the rest, Winter and Spring poems, which I couldn’t post during respective seasons. Will post when the seasons come again….
Have a read and let me know what do you think about my Summer Riturang Kavita, “Greesm Garjana“. It’s like a cool whiff of gushing winds in this scorching heat. Isn’t it?

Oh dear Sangeeta ji,
I just read your adorable poetry again and again and again!!! 🙂 🙂 🙂
I have been a huge fan of literature – English as well as Hindi. There was a time when I too used to do Shayari & Hindi poetry but as of now, my focus restricts to only English and Swedish for that’s my bread & butter! Also, because I absolutely love the English language, I highly use it in my daily interaction.
No offence to Hindi – that’s my Mother tongue, and I carry deep respect for it!
But honestly saying, I have only admired Hindi for its pure form (shudh Hindi) of the ancient era; never felt pleasant with the “modern day broken Hinglish lingo”… though we all have grown with it!
I have observed that I naturally gravitate towards languages that exist in their full integrity like Sanskrit.
And therefore, Shudh-Hindi poetry like yours is such a GREAT delight for my heart! I enjoy the charm of the composition of each and every phrase… it just transports me to my childhood when I loved writing Hindi poetry. May be someday, I will share those old posts with the world!
You are magical! Keep writing! 🙂 🙂 🙂
