~ Five Sentence Fiction ~ ~ Five Sentence Fiction ~
She had a keen eye for diamonds and he loved to shower them upon her to show his love.
When he hurt her for the first time, he said ‘sorry’ with a solitaire, she smiled and forgave him.
He was impulsive, arrogant and haughty while she was calm, composed and self esteemed, so she refused being repelled by him over and over again.
He used to gift her rocks, bigger and bigger every time after his ghastly conduct towards her and she started feeling wretched about them as well as him.
While her bijoux box was filled with those stones, his pitcher of indignity refused to get empty, so she lost her interest in those pebbles and he lost his love.

Gifts are compliment to good memories.. Not to shadow the harm we did..
Beautifully portrayed in this fiction..
But all I would say that feeling of love is never lost. I know it takes time to get that old tempo. But it definitely comes to its original shape. Love can’t be deformed that’s my personal experience.
Well, your personal experience differs from mine. For me, love changes it’s meaning and colours with time if one’s self respect and dignity gets violated. Demeaning one is not love, no matter how expensive gifts are given and apologies demanded.
Thanks for liking this post Mr. Parashar. 🙂
So what shall one do if he/she demean it sometimes?
Shall we shut all doors?
I read a lot about forgiveness. But here I found your comment a little contrary!
If you read this story carefully, I’ve mentioned that the lady forgave the man initially (2nd sentence). But the man continued doing so by repeating the same insult again & again, trying to compensate it with gifts.
It’s all about the recurrence of the hurt and disgust, the man became habituated of. Forgiveness is a great virtue, which the lady shows by not taking revenge, but forgetting such behaviour is impossible.
Hope I’m clear now Mr. Parashar. 🙂
Well written post. Peoples should change there thinking.
Thank you so much. Glad that you liked it. Welcome to TSS. 🙂
Better late than never! Well said in few lines.
Absolutely ! Thanks Indrani. 🙂
Nice, the pebbles and the lost dignity, nice touch of comparison between the two Sangeeta..
Thanks Vinay. Glad that you liked the comparison. 🙂
Lesson for men 🙂
Great theme based write-up.
Yes, Mr. Singhal ! Being sensible and compassionate is more important than giving expensive gifts. Whether be men or women. Thanks for appreciating. 🙂
Such a beautifully weaved FSF. It so often happens in life that some people think that an expensive gift is enough to compensate for all the hurt and agony caused mindlessly. I loved the way you have portrayed this bitter reality, Ma’am 🙂
Thank you Purba. It’s indeed sad, yet happens in some people’s life. Fierce but true reality of life.
Glad that you liked the FSF. Thanks dear. 🙂
