Men, gorgeous men, what would we do without them? They make the world go round, they add spice to our life and when they offer us support and encouragement, we get up and salute them. Here we fix the spotlight on those males who have made some impact on a woman’s life through their words. It could be their poetry, stories, novels, plays, or any other form of literature that have turned our lives around with their impact.
It could be their way with words which has so charmed us, it could be the expressions of their feelings which so roused us. Whatever, they have helped make ours a better world with their literary acumen. Here’s The Style Symphony presenting some of the wizards of words with an impact who have changed a woman’s world with the power of the pen.
Lord Byron: (Poet)
This man had it made by charming women through his poems. A wonderfully noble profile, enough charm to melt icebergs, a reckless air, the lifestyle of a committed roué! All of it held a fatal fascination for women, but it was his way with words that wove a fine spell. ‘She walks in beauty’ he wrote, and almost every woman of his times felt he was talking about her. He was the quintessential romantic poet!
Lewis Carroll: (Writer)
Carroll set out to entertain a little girl called Alice Lidell, weaving a fantastical, wonderful tale of Imperious Queens, Mad Hatters, Sleepy Mice, White Rabbits, the funniest situations ever, all of it rooted in human idiosyncrasies. This gifted wordsmith ended up entertaining millions of little and not so little girls with his ‘Alice in Wonderland’.
Jean-Paul Satre: (Writer | Philosopher)
It was not his famous theory of alienation that was his greatest achievement. It was wonderfully equal relationship with woman of letters, Simone de Beauvoir. He let her be herself, he encouraged her in everything she said, did and wrote. He was the friend, philosopher, and guide every woman dreams of finding.
William Shakespeare: (Playwright | Poet)
No one could articulate the emotions and anxieties felt by a woman or those felt by a man for a woman quite as lucidly as the Bard. And what incredible women were given life under that evocative pen. His Portia was feisty than most men, his Juliet was innocence incarnated, his lady Macbeth, a master strategist!
Gorge Bernard Shaw: (Playwright)
He was not known for being overly fond of the other gender but Shaw’s women like Candida, Saint Joan and Eliza Dolittle were women of spirit, strength and intelligence, women who followed their own star! How could we not like a man who could create such women? And one, moreover, who was witty enough to crack us up so!
Rabindranath Tagore: (Poet | Writer)
There was a feminine sensibility to his pen. His ‘Geetanjali’ is so exquisitely crafted, one could be forgiven for thinking it is a lover’s paean. His women were sensitive souls whose delicate frames hid a determination not to bow down to adversity. As for his Rabindra Sangeet, emanating from a mellifluous throat, it is the sound of Heaven.

These men with the powerful pen presented the best ever portraits of women who were not only beautiful but were the women of strength or say, the woman of substance in true sense. The Style Symphony salutes those intellectual wordsmiths for their impact which changed a woman’s world for better.

Your appreciation means a lot. Glad, our efforts are being watched by a person of such literary acumen. Thank you so much Saket ji. 🙂
Men can be as good with pen as with sword, this is something very rarely talked about.
In these times of pseudo-feminism, it takes a big-heart and an unbiased rational brain to acknowledge people belonging to male gender. The post is an example.
Thank you so much Saket ji. To me feminism is–striking the right balance between men’s and women’s sensibilities. So, the role of men is as vital as of women for a balanced society. Glad that you liked the post. 🙂
