There lived a partridge on a peach tree
She used to croon for the moon
She paid the price as love’s not free
There lived a partridge on a peach tree
All her symphonies were full of glee
Till the moon eclipsed in June
There lived a partridge on a peach tree
She used to croon for the moon!
Melodies eclipsed with the moon that night
She still sang for her muse
Then the dragon-head devoured all light
Melodies eclipsed with the moon that night
Ensnared moon blamed her for the blight
Sundered love made her bruised
Melodies eclipsed with the moon that night
She still sang for her muse!
Last night, LUNAR ECLIPSE happened yet again. Dragon-head devoured the moon and, my girl, Anindhya clicked some awesome pictures of the celestial event and made this silhouette painting (featured image) for me. Just apt for the Triolet poem I had written for my muse, the eclipsed Luna.

A Triolet Poem (Triplet in French) is a French verse form. Traditionally, it’s mere a stanza of eight lines which includes two rhymes and two refrains. The first line is used as a refrain and is repeated as the fourth and the seventh lines. This triple reverberation of a single line gives the Triolet its name.
I have used two Triolet stanzas in my above poem to narrate the eternal saga of the Elysian love between the Partridge and the Moon.
It’s my first attempt in writing a Triolet Poem, so I have adhered to all the rules in terms of structure, theme, rhyme scheme and rhythm count etc.
Rhyme scheme is:
ABAA, ABAB….CDCC, CDCD..
And rhythm count is,
8-6-8-8 , 8-6-8-6….8-6-8-8 , 8-6-8-6,
And I’m sure, you won’t miss the layers of cadence along the acme of love.
