A Rose is a Rose is a Rose is a Rose
whether it’s red, pink, or blue
God made us in shades of VIBGYOR
and told us to live those hues.
The azure of the sky I’ve seen in your eyes
turned deep cerulean in your heart
You sipped those blues like Shiva’s Venom
which tints your bits and parts.
Ah Christ! They nailed your hand and feet
and left them blued and bruised
The flush of deep blue on Krishna’s face
make your demeanor abstruse.
It hurts to see when you know everything
yet, can’t express and stammer
It pains to see when a new rose is plucked
and forced its petals to scatter.
Let’s repel them who are blind to the blues
buried in your abraded scars
Their hearts may be carved of gold and gems
Their eyes, though filled with tar!!

The phrase “A rose is a rose is a rose is a rose” is derived from… Gertrude Stein’s famous poem Sacred Emily.
Postscriptum: This poem is dedicated to the only person with Autism I have seen in real life and spent many years of my childhood with. His name was ‘Parasuram‘, here, depicted as Christ in this poem. He used to follow us wherever we would go as my parents trust only him for our safety.
Later, he started serving in a temple, as the priests there, convinced him that his condition would be cured if he serves their gods for free. He kept on working day and night until died of gangrene. His hands and toes got severe Eczema caused by continuous washing and cleaning.
The color blue with its various shades symbolizes Autism Awareness which is meant to show the “Willingness to create a better world for people who have autism or other related conditions and will be greatly appreciated by us who are struggling to create a better world for people with autism and willingness is the first step which leads to action.” –Dr. Ampat Koshi
Posted this Blue Scorpion painting, made by my sister, the late Vineeta Mishra.
