Happy Birthday My Moonbeam, Anindhya !
What should I gift you today…?
…except my words as demure, love as pure and blessings as powerful as you?
So, here goes the last birthday ritual, my gift of words, your birthday poesy!
? ??
She’s the zephyr who wards off all the stale air,
A whiff of sandal woods which swiftly ensnares.
The petrichor, I smelt when horrid thunder showered,
How was I, a wisp of a girl whom she empowered.
Brilliance with subdued charms, she is my pride,
An old head on tiny shoulders, surely on my stride.
An immaculate baby heart, with a sparkling mind,
She acts my vertebrae, but becomes my spine.
When I foster my abyss, hellish, deathly, dark,
Then ignites my “Aurora”, with her luminous spark.
A bluestocking girl, svelte, tall, with cherub’s face,
Amid the burning inferno, she is my solace.

Fostering an iGen centennial kid years after bringing up a GenY millennial wasn’t a facile task for me. It’s a challenge I faced and yet to overcome….I’m yet to learn a lot, yet to listen a lot… “Lady! You need to grow faster, lest they would outgrow you.”
“They ought to be smarter than you and attest their acumen before you, else your efforts will go in vain.”….
These are the situations we, the mothers encounter in our lives. Either you are a fool before your kids or failed in brooding a lineage better than you. I chose to be the former, the fool and allowed my pedigree to be ahead of me, in all respects.
‘La Imbecile! You have won while losing the game to her’….Yes! She has always made me lose whatever I own. And, I do it so happily.
Every year, on her birthday, I used to write poetry which she admired and cherished. However, she made me lose again when she picked her pen and in just 4 months, proved her mettle to the world. Won many online writing contests in the process. My poems are now too meek before hers. It’s her birthday yet again and I feel bereft of words so decided to share hers before you all, because she dreams like me.
I still call her “My little girl” which she has proven wrong yet again. An old head on young shoulders, she owns an immaculate heart… Isn’t she the beauty with brains I should be proud of?

So rightly said . There was a time when journalism was such a serious and responsible affair. Gone are the days when news really meant breaking.
