When The Angels Danced On Their Heads: A Greek Folklore
Amidst the stillness of eternal night on Mount Olympus,
Euterpe stood aghast before her father, King Zeus.
The muse of Lyrics and Music was dethroned of her glory,
One amongst the nine Mousai, merely a subject to mockery.
Her misdemeanor was loving a demon feigning as a demigod,
Her dexterity fell short of deciphering all his frauds.
Riding on the black clouds, impersonating a prince,
The demon knew how to entice and hold a princess’ strings.
Euterpe lost her head and heart over that Dementor,
She couldn’t see the devil behind his princely demeanour.
The smitten Muse wrote and sang a million Serenades,
Effervescent and honeyed love divulged as Sorbets.
Oblivious was she until one fine day it rained,
The night turned catastrophic, she saw his visage, stained.
The black cloud he used to ride was, Harpy, the necromancer,
Pouring venomous rains on the mountain, claiming hers’ a Cancer.
The black cloud roared watching Euterpe romancing her devil,
Went berserk, it rained cats-dogs, the droplets pouring evil.
Euterpe’s peaches and crème complexion burnt in precipitation,
However, she discerned her adroit recognition.
Rains douched him, the lightning sparked, she got back her conscience,
Till then he was hiding behind a well made up countenance.
The acid rain kept on searing Euterpe’s cherubic face,
While the demon rode Harpy, they just flew out of trace.
Mount Olympus was echoing Harpy’s sinister laugh,
The Muse stood aghast, drowned, as water reached her calves.
Infuriated Zeus couldn’t stand the burns of his daughter,
The devil was summoned, on a guillotine he was slaughtered.
Harpy cried her eyes out, her tears turned in deluge,
Her mercy pleas were flotsam, King Zeus did REFUSE !
She was exiled from the Sky, sent to the underworld of Hades,
The demonic cloud was stopped forever leaving the hell’s radius.
Heartbroken Princess Euterpe exuded all her pains,
Her tears turned in lyrical poems, music showered like rains.
Many epics she penned down, Ah! turned gorgeous, drop dead,
Symphonies spurt from Olympus, Angels Danced on their Heads.
Whenever the Greek fables and mythical tales are said,
The Angels, wherever they are, always dance on their heads!

PS: The Angels Danced on their Heads on Mount Olympus….eons ago…
This epyllion, obviously, is inspired by Greek Mythology though the tale is conceived by me through Greek gods and goddesses as follows….
1. Zeus: The King god, the god who reigned the sky and lived on Mount Olympus.
2. Euterpe : One of the nine muses (Mousai in Greek), the daughter of Zeus and the muse/goddess of lyrical poetry and music. Always seen playing a double flute.
3. Harpy: A rapacious monster described as having a woman’s head and body and a bird’s wings and claws.
4. Hades: The King god of underworld (Hell) , the youngest brother of Zeus who was considered the richest, the kindest as well as the most ferocious among all the Greek gods.
